Welcome to the online art gallery of Dadra Kimball
Medium:
Acrylic Paint & Felt-Tip Pens
"I remember the exact moment I found my passion that completely changed my life." Says Dadra Kimball. Most people not finding there passion until later in life Dadra found hers at the age of 6 years old.. In 1st grade she saw her friend draw a little picture of a cartoon dog. " I remember my eyes lighting up and realizing this is what I want to do." While her school mates had goals of being doctors and marine biologists she had a dream of being an artist. With that in mind growing up she made sure she was in an art class every single semester through out high school.. After attending high school she attended a couple art classes at a local community college but nothing further than that due to financial difficulties growing up. "At that time I thought I would never reach my goal of becoming an artist from just those two classes, I thought I would never be good enough." Says Dadra. But with determination and self discipline she was able to teach herself.
After selling her first painting in 2000 she realized all her hard work and dedication paid off. She was officially an artist and now has a career, and after 24 years that career has gone even further. Having her first art show last year she was left with no paintings! There all on display at local surf shops and gift stores.
While living in Las Vegas she created a very strong passion for bright colors and a love for fire and flames. A lot of her paintings she purposely uses bold beautiful colors to catch ones eye. From whatever emotions she was having at that time is where the idea for her paintings were born. Now living in Florida she admits her paintings changed quit a bit, now they range from sealife, landscapes and dreamlike images produced from her own imagination.
Using her favorite mediums, acrylic paints, and felt tip pens not only does she paint on canvas but she admits to painting on just about anything and everything she can get her hands on! From driftwood, seashells to furniture and bedroom walls she is able to display her amazing talent on whatever texture the material might be. Out of all the objects she has painted "The Persistance of Memory" by Salvidore Dali she had painted on a kitchen table top is still her favorite.
