Russell Gulick-Mixed Media Art

Longtime Jupiter resident, Russell Gulick, has been involved with art for half his life and at age 32 considers himself one of the newer generations of artists in South Florida. Russell graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art and has been winning awards and acclamations since middle school.

He has been commissioned at local schools and businesses, but has focused more on his studio work. His landscapes are a combination of photo realism and and experimentation.Growing up in Florida, Russell grew to love the surroundings that made Florida unique, it’s beaches, back country and even dawn and dusk, but even modern obstructions, like buildings, light poles and infrastructure inspire him. By creating a unique composition of line and contrast, these structures complement the vivid sunsets and waterways.

“ My work is a culmination of events that happen at once in that one moment in time and I intend to capture them. By using experimental appliqué and layers of color, I add these structures as if they are being built professionally, giving the work some photo realism.”

Russell uses all types of media, like other canvas, pictures, stickers and house paint. Russell has always been intrigued by all forms of art and likes to try and add a little of each style into his work. See more of Russell Gulick's work here.
